Speech Pathologist

We are seeking expressions of interest from Speech Pathologists that are interested in joining our Therapy and Behaviour Support team in any of our regions:

  • Central Sydney Region – Rhodes Office: supporting families around Ryde, Parramatta, Inner West, Georges River and Sutherland.
  • Western Sydney Region – Baulkham Hills Office: supporting families around the Blacktown LGA.
  • Northern Sydney Region – Turramurra Office: supporting families around Ku-ring-gai, Hornsby, Ryde and part of Parramatta.

This part-time opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking afternoon working hours, with options including:

  • 2:00pm – 6:00pm (across 5 days, 20 hours per week)
  • 1:00pm – 6:00pm (across 4 or 5 days, 20-25 hours per week)

You will provide person and family-centred therapy services to children and young people with disabilities or developmental delays. This includes a mix of in-person supports across Lifestart sites, homes, schools, and the community, as well as online therapy Australia-wide.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside children, young people and their families to set goals, develop strategies and support their implementation
  • Empower our clients and families to develop their skills in areas such as communication, speech, eating and drinking, social skills and supporting inclusion in chosen activities and settings
  • Assessment and intervention in specialist areas such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), dysphagia and mealtime management.
  • Work with a varied caseload alongside a team of experienced allied health professionals and behaviour support practitioners including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and behaviour clinicians.
  • Provide support to families through a keyworker model of practice and parent coaching
  • Opportunity to provide support through telehealth, engaging with families online for assessment and intervention.
  • Opportunity to support families through group programs such as Hanen More Than Words, toilet training, Secret Agent Society and Tech Talkers.
  • Opportunity for supervision of junior clinicians and students (for Senior roles)

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Current SPA membership
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Speech Pathologist
  • Professional experience, or demonstrated commitment to working with children and young people
  • Experience and/or interest in using person and family centred, strength-based approaches
  • Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment
  • Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus (3 doses) or accepted medical exemption certificate
  • Current driver’s licence and use of own car
